GOOD BASEBALL WAS PLAYED HERE TODAY…I am Serious!
Tobey was alive with baseball lovers today.
Two great games entertained a great crowd created by a surprise birthday party for Robert Miller who turns “60” tomorrow. Many former players and Hall of Fame members along with families and friends gathered where Robert loves to hang-out on Sundays.
Robert was treated with a special present from P.W. Burnett who pitched a masterpiece 2-hitter as Peterbilt Cards/Reds held on to a 3-1 victory over Lost Pizza Orioles that went 8 innings in 2 hours and 26 minutes.
Game two was just as exciting as the new HDL Expansion team, Prudential Tigers, spotted the V-Brothers Athletics a 4 run lead then slowly clawed their way back into the game. The A’s and Tigers were tied 5-5 in the 6th inning.
The A’s took a one run lead in top of the 7th but could not hold the lead after Kris Klinger slashed a Triple down the right field line to score Cesar Cabrera. With the winning run on 3rd, Quintell Myers hit a high bouncer that found a hole to score the winning run in a “walk-off”.
This was a fun game that gave the New Prudential Tigers a “jump-up & down” finish at home plate. It was fun to watch this team play errorless baseball with clutch catches and timely hits. After the game I overheard Travis Hill tell his teammates how proud he was of everyone’s effort and never give-up attitude. This is something all HDL teams need from time to time.
