HDL BLOG CHANGES – What Happened?

Posted on December 20, 2020 by

A few days ago I logged on to the HDL Blog to see if any updates were needed. This all started when I checked the email address that WordPress uses to notify me when the annual renewal fee is due to keep the Blog active. I was surprised to see an email that they had sent advising me that our use of the MLB Themed widget was going to expire on December 17th.

“As a reminder, your site was previously using one of our MLB-provided themes. Unfortunately, our licensing agreement with Major League Baseball has ended, and as a result we were required to remove those themes from WordPress.com.”

WordPress offers a variety of “Theme” designs with allow users to adapt personal photo’s and content messaging blocks as needed or preferred to promote users Blog content.

So today I searched the library of various themes to select us a feasible alternative. To my surprise, I found another “MLB” theme layout that would keep the HDL Blog oriented as “Baseball” oriented. I made the transition and activated the Theme. Since WordPress has not deleted this MLB Theme, I assume it is available. Worse case scenario, we will be able to use the theme until they declare it “unauthorized”.

So until we are forced to redesign the theme (again), “What you see” may only be temporary. Thank You for your support and understanding.
